Petrovsky Road Palace in Moscow is finally opened for tourists. 25.09.2011 21:27

Petrovsky Road Palace in Moscow opened his doors in March 2009 after 10 years of restoration works and now can be visited by organized guided groups as well.
Palace was built in 1775-1778 years by architect, Matvey Kazakov, under decree of Empress Catherine II. Petrovsky Road Palace is the most southern road palace on the route connecting Moscow and St.Petersburg, it was originally conceived as a residence for important people who could rest there after a long journey. Catherine the Great, stayed in the palace for the first time only in 1787. In 1797, Emperor Paul I- the son of Catherine the Great, stayed here before his coronation. Since then, the palace became a permanent spectator of official coronation ceremonies: on the road from St. Petersburg, all Russian monarchs stayed here before their coronation.

Tori Amos is an American pianist, singer-songwriter and composer. She was at the forefront of a number of female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s and was noteworthy early in her career as one of the few alternative rock performers to use a piano as her primary instrument. Some of her charting singles include "Crucify", "Silent All These Years", "God", "Cornflake Girl", "Caught a Lite Sneeze", "Professional Widow", "Spark", "1000 Oceans", and "A Sorta Fairytale", her most commercially successful single in the U.S. Her music is a combination of alt-, folk-, prog-rock, jazz and experimental electro.

International Academic Rowing Marathon will take place in St. Petersburg in October 2011 22.09.2011 22:13

The 70th International Academic Rowing Marathon will be held in the Neva waters. It is a traditional race held on the first Sunday of October since 1940. The marathon's distance is 5 to 20 km depending on the competitors' age.
The marathon has always been one of the most prestigious races of the Soviet Union. This year more than 250 sportsmen from Ukraine, North-West federal district, St.Petersburg and Moscow will take part in the race.
The marathon is the final event of the academic rowing sports season.
